What puppyhood can look like.

3 months

Early Development Phase
(12 - 16 weeks)

Puppies are curious but sensitive right now. Everything feels new, fear periods pop up, and their energy rises while their attention span stays tiny. Teething begins, and they start lightly testing boundaries.

4 months

Emerging Confidence Phase
(16 - 20 weeks)

Confidence grows and so does selective listening. Puppies become more aware of their surroundings, which can make them more alert or nosy. Mouthing and pushy behaviors increase as teething peaks.

5 months

Pre-Adolescent Phase
(20 - 24 weeks)

The teenage phase kicks in. Hormones start influencing behavior, and puppies develop stronger opinions about people, dogs, and new situations. Stubbornness appears, and chewing becomes more boredom-driven.

6 months

Adolescent Phase
(24 - 28 weeks)

Full adolescence hits. Puppies feel bolder and more independent, and habits - good or bad - start cementing. You may see more pulling, barking, guarding, or overexcitement if structure hasn’t been clear.
