day train

Real training. No overnight stay.

Day Train is for dog owners who want real results - without overnight boarding.
You drop off in the morning; we train throughout the day; you take home a calmer, more responsive dog with a clear plan.

Book Evaluation

(Evaluation fee waived if Day Train or Board & Train is booked within 30 days of evaluation date)

Who Day Train Is For

  • Dogs who know commands but don’t listen

  • Pulling, whining, overstimulated dogs

  • Dogs who need boundaries + impulse control

  • Friendly or neutral dogs needing focus

  • Dogs needing confidence, structure, and consistency

  • Dogs graduating foundational training who need tune-ups

Not for severe aggression or bite histories. (Evaluation required)

What we work on

Every dog has a custom plan, but common focus areas include:

  • Loose-leash walking, reducing pulling, stopping zig-zagging, neutrality outside.

    • Sit, Down, Place, Come

    • Holding positions around distractions

    • Building a reliable stay and a clear release command

    • Door rushing, jumping, barking, demanding behavior, general calmness.

    • New surfaces, sounds, objects, controlled dog/people neutrality.

Most programs include weekly 30-minute recap sessions so owners learn the exact handling.

How Day Train Works

1

Evaluation & Game Plan
We start with an in-person evaluation so we can see your dog, hear what you’re dealing with, and recommend the right program length and focus.

2

Drop-Off
You drop your dog off in the morning at our Jersey City Heights facility. We take it from there.

3

Training Blocks
Your dog rotates through focused training sessions, structured exposure and confidence-building, controlled social time (if appropriate), and crate/rest time to help them learn to settle and decompress.

4

End-of-Day Transfer
At the end of the day, we go over what your dog worked on, what they did well, what you need to practice at home.

Day Train programs also include weekly 30-min recap sessions so you’re not left guessing how to handle your dog.

5

Support & Progression
Based on your dog’s progress, we may recommend additional weeks of Day Train, transition into our Pack membership (structured daycare + tune-ups), or Private sessions to apply everything directly in your space.

What You Get (Beyond a Tired Dog)

  1. A dog who actually responds to you - not just to trainers

  2. Clear structure and rules your dog understands

  3. Tools and handling techniques you can replicate at home

  4. A consistent plan instead of random tips and tricks

  5. Access to ongoing support and next-step programs

Requirements

To keep things safe and structured for everyone:

  • Up-to-date vaccinations as recommended by your vet

  • Dog must be crate-trained or open to crate conditioning (we can help with this)

  • Owners must be open to the use of certain training tools (slip leads, prong collars, e-collar, etc.)

  • No known active bite history toward people or dogs without prior discussion

  • Drop-off and pick-up within the set windows so we can keep the day structured

If your dog has shown serious aggression or has bitten before, we’ll discuss whether Day Train is appropriate or if a different program is better.

Do I need an evaluation first?

Yes—before any training program, we do an evaluation so we choose the right program for your dog and don’t waste time or money on the wrong approach.

Is this like daycare?

No. Daycare is mainly freetime. Day Train is a structured training day with a clear plan, training blocks, controlled exposure, and crate/rest time. Social time (if any) is earned and purposeful.

Will my dog be worked with all day?

We balance focused training, exposure, and rest. Dogs need time to process and decompress—constant activity creates stress, not learning.

FAQs

Can you help with leash reactivity?

We can absolutely improve leash manners, impulse control, and how your dog responds to the environment. For severe reactivity or aggression, we may recommend a more intensive program and will be honest with you about that during the evaluation.

What happens after Day Train?

Many dogs transition into our Pack membership for structured daycare and tune-ups, continue Day Train for additional weeks, or move into private sessions to tighten things up at home.
